Sharing the Arts relies on volunteers to assist in the classroom. The program currently has volunteers from various neighboring high schools as well as a participant of George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood, NJ, 7th grade Community Service Program.

Various volunteers have been honored over the years by The Volunteer Center of Bergen County.

Sharing the Arts participates in Access Ridgewood, a weekend event promoting the awareness of individuals with disabilities and recognizes their special gifts and talents.

Sharing the Arts is a non-profit performing arts program for individuals with mild to moderate developmental delays, including chromosomal abnormalities, Asperger's, genetic anomalies and other developmental delays. Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs through the performing arts. Classes are led by teachers with support staff to provide redirection and assistance. Pre-teen through college-age volunteers serve as assistants, demonstrators, mentors as well as friends in the class. Presentation and performance opportunities exist for some classes.

Sharing the Arts offers dance, acting and vocal classes through the Ridgewood Community School. Classes are currently held Saturday mornings at Orchard Elementary School in Ridgewood.

Musical Theatre programs are offered at local high schools including Ridgewood, Glen Rock and Glen Ridge High Schools.

The classes are held during the week after school at the high schools. The clubs are a collaboration between the high school volunteers and the STA students in which they work on all aspects of putting on a production leading up to their stage performance!
